Recently I participated in a public presentation that Mari Smith did using Slideshare’s new webcasting program, Zipcast.
What is Zipcast? I’m sure you are familiar with Go to Meeting. Where I would consider Go to Meeting more appropriate for professional virtual client meetings, Zipcast really fills a big marketing gap. I’ve tested quite a few of these online presentation platforms and they all seem to be missing key features for controlling your own webcast and some of them are quite expensive.
Slideshare has offered you the ability to integrate video into your presentations for quite sometime, but Zipcast goes way above and beyond this.
Described as “the new way to meet online” Zipcast is a flexible platform that has all of the necessary features for creating awesome online live presentations around your thought leadership, and capture leads in the process!
The features that I’m really excited about are:
- Unlimited attendees
- Ability to password protect presentations
- Streaming live video
- No clunky software (runs in browser using HTML5)
- Zipcasts are interactive and social
Currently it doesn’t appear that there is any built-in method for recording your webcasts, other than using an alternative such as Screenflow. The program is also in Beta so I would expect that many of the kinks will get worked out. For example in the presentation I was watching the audio was a bit wonky. Also, for now you have to create your own registration process by sending out an invite link for your Zipcast.
Overall, I expect this to be a great tool for making your presentations come alive! To read about all of the features and benefits, read about the Zipcast announcement from Slideshare.
